Carly A. Quinn

About
Carly Quinn is a public historian specializing in the Cold War, and her fields of expertise include film history, espionage & intelligence, and gender studies. She currently works at Penguin Random House Audio, and serves as a historian, writer, and co-producer for The Exploress, a podcast dedicated to time traveling through women's history, one era at a time.
A Presidential Scholarship recipient, Carly attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She graduated with a B.A. in History with honors in Mary of 2017. She completed internships at the Mark Twain House & Museum, and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, and spent her junior year studying abroad at Queen Mary University of London. She specialized in Cold War History, and went on to write an Honors Thesis under the direction of her mentor, Dr. Julian Chambliss. Her thesis, comprising original research on Cold War films of the 1960s, can be found on the Academic Projects page of this site.
In 2018, Miss Quinn enrolled in the Public History Graduate Program at Northeastern University as an Excellence Award Scholarship recipient. Carly completed her 300 hours of Public History fieldwork as an intern at the Boston Museum of Science, and worked at the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture for 2 years. She also pursued a Digital Humanities Graduate Certificate, and her final project, Cold War Confidential: Briefing a U.S. President, which features an interactive text adventure gaming experience, can be found here.

Carly graduated in May of 2020, and began working for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, where she spent a year managing their Etix Timed Entry Pass Project, VIP & Groups program, and website content & design systems. She now works in the Editorial department of Penguin Random House Audio as the Licensing & Business Development Associate, where she manages the licensing of audio masters to international publishers.
